Hydroponic farm for Shanghai’s Sunqiao District

China’s landscapes have dramatically transformed in recent years thanks to aspiring architects who have been keen to delve beyond traditional structures. Ambitious designs are not new to China. While construction is booming throughout the cities, developing partnerships with some of the world’s best architectural experts is a common practice in order to attain such goals. In a recent collaboration with American firm, Sasaki Associates, a new design for a hydroponic vertical farm is in place for the buzzing city of Shanghai. The eco-friendly farming district will boast 250 acres of land and nest a number of plazas, parks, houses, stores, restaurants, greenhouses, and a science museum. As one of Asia’s megacities, it is an exciting time for growth in Shanghai and we look forward to seeing what this ag-tech hub will bring in the future.
